My first book signing!

The first time I sold my book, I was ecstatic. I felt both appreciated, and accomplished. Come to find out, after reading my book, the person wanted to order another book! Literally, words could not describe the feeling I had. Now for my first book signing. That was actually yesterday. It almost feels like a birthday. I answered questions from aspiring writers and readers who were interested in buying several books :). The support was amazing, and I couldn't ask for more. Overall, from my experiences with my readers and aspiring writers, the best feeling is inspiring them to complete an unfinished work, or to continue on with their goals. In this forum, user: Book Word mentioned to me, that authors manuscripts are like their babies. Which is completely true. So when someone takes interest in our work, the feeling is like no other. We put our time and effort into the finished product, and when someone notices our hard efforts, we feel more than accomplished.

KD Williams here with daily life lessons (4)

Hello readers here is the life lesson for today:

"Spend quality time with family"

Unlike the photo, you don't have to get inside a huge red shirt to have a fun time with family, all you need to do is spend time with them. If you and your family don't get along then find common ground. If you like to go biking and they like to watch a movie, then do both or at least watch a movie about biking :). The whole idea is spending time with the family is very important. More important than fame, fortune or prestige-it is the essence of being a human being. So put the remote down and go find you child, mother, father,or sibling and have a good time, because you'll never know what life can bring tomorrow.

Helpful tips to spend time with family:

  • Do something they want to do learn to be self sacrificing. In order to receive respect you need to give it. So don't be snotty and do what you want to do, instead learn what their interests are.
  • Travel down memory lane talk about the funny moments in the past and how both you and your family member has changed for the better. Never go to the negative because it's not cool at all.
  • Be genuine in your approach whenever you're going to hang out with a family member or anyone always be genuine and kind. How could someone turn you down with a smile and a great attitude.

KD Williams here with daily life lessons (3)

Hello readers here is the life lesson for today:

"Live in the moment :)"

When time gets tough we tend to go back to the past to what things used to be like. Remembering the past is ok, but don't lose track of the present. For us who day dream, we tend to get carried away with what could happen instead of what I am doing now. If today you are going to summer school-pay attention don't day dream. You'll never know if your going to use what your teacher says in the future. I know I did. I tend to dream about the future constantly, and sometimes I get lost in my dreams. When I took the time to pay attention to the now-that is when I developed amazing ideas to get to the future I've always dreamed of. If you are going to see a long lost relative today, or having a baby, or getting married, or may fall in love-just remember this moment will NEVER come back- it will live in our memories and the clock won't turn back for anyone. So live in the moment and make the most of it because you'll never know if your going to use this moment in the future.

Helpful tips to live in the moment:

  • Clear your mind from anything that may hinder you to enjoy your time. If you need to be alone for a while or talk things out with a friend then do so. In order to have the best time, you need to have a clear mind.
  • Dream at night. Day dreaming is fun and nothing is wrong with it. But how can you be in the present if your mind is wondering off to the future or the past. Let your imagination expand but don't let it control your life to where you lost touch with reality.
  • Be spontaneous go skinny dipping, go hiking, biking-be active. Meet a stranger, develop a new friendship, learn a new language. When we do new things it requires our full attention because your unsure of what will happen. If you drive to work the same route everyday, then go a different route or car pool. Whatever you do don't get stuck in a routine.

Hello readers here is the life lesson for today:

"Have Fun!"

Take some time to yourself this holiday and have fun. Life is short and it's not all about work work work. Let you body relax and once you get past relaxing, you can learn to have fun. Whether it's going to the park with your kids and having a picnic with your significant other, going to an amusement, playing cards or watching a really really scary movie. Whatever it is have fun and do something different. If you went swimming last week, then don't go swimming again, instead start a garden or read a good book. Let your mind expand and you imagination wonder. Trust me it's ok. Once you get the hang of it do this at least one hour a week then eventually do this one day of the week. Your body and mind needs to relax from the pressure of everyday life and chores. The best way to do that is to have fun, especially with the ones you love.

Helpful tips to have fun

  • Take a walk in the park but with a friend and talk about the good ole days. Remembering the best things in life is one reason we have a brain so we can think about the good times when we are in a mess.
  • Dance to a random song shake out your worries with dancing. Whether by yourself, with your kids with your spouse or your pet. Dance and go crazy let it all hang loose. Smile and enjoy the moment
  • Dip into the arts if you like to sing-sing, if you like to draw-draw, if your a writer like me-write, if your a musician-play music. Whatever it is- enjoy the arts. One of the best ways to have fun is by expressing yourself. If you don't know how to sing, play an instrument,draw,write-then learn. We all have ways of expressing ourselves you just got to find yours.

KD Williams here with daily life lessons (1)

Hello readers. I am KD Williams author of the popular series Rise of Oliria. I'm a new blogger so bare with me, eventually my posts will become better formatted and hopefully more entertaining. Any who, here is the life lesson for today:

"Be your self and know who you are"

Many people tend to believe that becoming similar to someone famous is an accomplishment and will make people like you. Well it's not. Hear me out- trying out new trends are ok, but obsessing over what you don't have instead of looking at what you do, will never get you far in life. Make sure you discover yourself, whether it's through friends, hobbies or taking some time alone and think things through. Whatever you have to do in order to realize that you are the only you out there and no one will ever replace you. You may be a stay at home mom who loves to crotchet, or a teenage boy who loves to sing but no one things you can make it. Well skew all those neigh sayers what have they accomplished in their life. My whole point is if you are that mom or boy then live your dream because that's who you are. At the end of the day you only have one person to answer to and if you can't answer to yourself then what has life done for you?

Helpful tips to stay true to yourself

  • Create a hobby out of the things you love. If you love to sing then on Friday nights have karaoke with friends and family. If you love to cook then have a bake sale and invite the neighborhood.
  • Make the best of the moment if you are at a party and your shy then talk to only a few people, its unnecessary to go to everyone. Maybe you can loosen up by finding common ground with the people there. If you're wearing your hair in braids notice if other's may have there hair in braids too. Finding common ground is always best when your trying to cut the ice.
  • Enjoy the best things in life indulge yourself. We have cravings for a reason. If you feel like an apple pie, then darn you eat an apple pie. That's what makes you, you. The things you enjoy and like are what makes you unique and irreplaceable.

A Glimpse of Rise of Oliria Book One **Chapter one:First Encounter with Death**

Chapter One
First Encounter with Death
Courage can shape a new beginning; combined with determination you’ll can reach that alternate ending.”
-------Oliria year 2115 A. D. -----
“Where is my wife!!?”  King Thomas moved rapidly through the halls with his six year old daughter clutched to his right arm. Several guards made way for the King whose wife had only minutes to spare. “Where is she?” he hissed with his blood boiling over, ready to attack anyone in sight. He traveled a few more steps and soon both he and princess Jinálie were in front of the cold door that led way to their sick loved one.
When entering, they could see the fading woman with blood shot eyes, lying hopelessly in the hospital bed. The princess watched by the door after her father ran over to his wife.  Jinálie knew the pale woman was her mother only because the door had her name assigned. But this woman with tubes running into her nose was somehow a stranger in her eyes.
The life-support machine whined, giving the room an irritating presence. Jinálie suspended her mind from reality as she approached the figure in the bed and reached out to her mother’s weakened hands. Those hands which once held her firmly when she took her first steps could now barely move.
Princess Jinálie leaned over, forcing herself into the Queen’s line of vision. The Queen’s eyes opened and she looked into her daughter’s startled face. Jinálie couldn’t bear seeing the woman with the world’s most lively soul perish.
A tear escaped from Jinálie’s eye and landed on her mother’s hand. The Queen looked at her daughter with intensity and said weakly, “Take my locket from my neck, it will guide you through life.” Jinálie shook her head while backing away from the bed and holding on to the edge of a table. The Queen saw the pain in her daughter’s eyes and signaled King Thomas to help take off the silver locket.
“Here take this,” the Queen murmured, “And promise me when you become Queen to trust both your heart and mind.”
Jinálie nodded meekly and went over to grab the locket. “I promise to make Oliria prosperous just don’t leave me!” Jinálie shouted with endless tears flying out her eyes.  At the strike of the tenth hour the Queen released Jinálie’s hand and said her final words, “Know that I love you and you will always be my Jinálie.”

Soon the beeping of the machine was no more.
